OMGPictures.com did an interesting comparison between iOS and Android users. It was a graphical look at the battle of the two top mobile OS’s, and the differences between their users and was quite interesting to say the least. For example, when it came to core demographics and personality they found that:
- Android users where 80% more likely to have a high school diploma; while iOS users, on the other hand, where 37% more likely to have a graduate degree
- Android users where more likely to have a annual household income between 50k to 100k; as compared to iOS users who where more than 67% more likely to have an annual household income over 200k
- Android users where 12% more likely to be introverted; with iOS users 14% more likely to extroverted
- Android users where 29% more likely to prefer saving their money; iOS users are 26% more likely to prefer actually spending theirs
However, when it comes to life experiences and technology in general the differences are:
- Android users where 71% more likely to have never traveled outside of their own countries; iOS users, however, where found to be 50% more likely to have actually visited at least 5 different countries
- Android users are 31% more likely to be earlier adopters; iOS users, on the other hand, are more than 50% more likely to be the same
- Android users are more than 57% more likely to prefer a full-featured, but ugly device; iOS users, in contrast, are more than a whopping 122% more likely to prefer a less featured, but a more beautiful device such as the iPhone or iPad
- Android users are more than 33% more likely to ever back up their computers; iOS users being more than 67% more than likely to back up theirs
When it comes to actually using their phones, well things are equally interesting with:
- Android users being 35% more likely to text while waiting in line; in contrast, iOS users are more than 54% more likely to view email while waiting in line
- Android users are more than 24% likely to use a song for a ring-tone rather than a beep, etc.; iOS users, however are more than 50% more likely to do what they shouldn’t do: text while driving
When it comes to food and dinning, Android users are somewhat different in their tastes as well, with:
- Android users being more likely to prefer steak, chicken and cheese steak; iOS users being more likely to prefer sushi, pad Thai and tapes. Clearly, when it comes to the food, then I’m definitely in the Android camp!
- When it comes to fruit, well Android users prefer mainly: oranges, pineapples and grapes; iOS users: strawberries, Clementine’s and raspberries
In conclusion, I’m not sure how accurate these statistics are, but they are fun and they do clearly show differences in the thinking and tastes of the respected users of the two major mobile OS’s. OMG Pictures have a lot more fun statistics too, not only in the above areas, but, as well in additional areas such as media, fashion, taste and aesthetics, so be sure to check em out as well.
And that's my 2 cents 4 this Monday, December 26, 2011
